Find Natural Wrinkle Remedies That Work!

The first step in any health regime is taking steps towards preventative care and self-education. When it comes to aging, and wrinkles in particular, we need to know what causes them before we can treat them and prevent them from occurring.

What Are Wrinkles?

Wrinkles are creases in the skin, appearing as fine lines or heavy overlaps (this depends largely on age, health, etc.) They appear most commonly around the corners of the mouth and eyes, and on the neck, hands, and forehead. Wrinkles occur when skin begins losing collagen and elastin that work as connective tissues within skin.

Why Do Wrinkles Occur?

Wrinkles, simply put, are an unfortunate reality of the aging process. Inevitably, we will all someday have them. But certain factors can make wrinkles more apparent, and occur at younger ages.

Sun Exposure
Exposure to sun is the most common culprit of early-onset wrinkles. Certain measures should be taken to protect skin against harmful ultraviolet rays, such as wearing sunscreen, hats, and avoiding long-term sun exposure. This is hard for those whom are outdoor enthusiasts, but just make sure you are wearing a high SPF sunscreen and you should be fine.

Pollution
Not commonly associated with wrinkles, pollution is a huge culprit for aging. Toxins found in our air, water, food, soil, and just about everywhere can lead to the accumulation of free-radicals and pollutants within our bodies, damaging organs and tissue.

Stress
This one is very frustrating. Stress causes us to age rapidly, and in a world where we are all conditioned to live in highly stressful situations, it seems impossible to learn how to cope. Stress frays the edges of our DNA strands and ends up showing in our faces.

Smoking
The smoke from cigarettes produces a large amount of free-radicals that then run rampant through your body. Free-radicals are precursors to cancer, mind you, and also assist in the breaking down of healthy tissue. Not only does smoking release free-radicals into the air and your body, it dries out your skin. A sure way to age quickly is smoking, so if wrinkles are your thing, we highly recommend taking up the habit.

Preventative Measures

Some of the best methods for preventing wrinkles are the most simplistic. Just by keeping yourself well-hydrated (drinking AT LEAST eight glasses of water per-day), moisturized (using oils like olive oil that share the same pH as our skin), and wearing sunscreen whenever you’re going outside (seriously, do it), all work to prevent early-onset aging.

At-Home Remedies

Participating in a home-made body cleanse can do wonders for your system, and your skin. Your liver health is directly related to the health of your skin, and so by simply cleansing your liver you’re going to see a beautiful improvement in the health and clarity of your skin.

Cleansing Your Body
Taking herbal supplements or drinking tea like Dandelion or Milk Thistle will cleanse your liver of toxins and clear your skin, giving you a healthy glow. We also recommend doing a colon-cleanse. The best way to do a colon cleanse at home is by eating high-fiber foods combined with herbs that will stimulate colon output, like cayenne. In any cleanse, you’re going to not only see an improvement in energy levels, skin brightness, and mental focus, you will literally feel better overall. Since aging is caused in large part by toxins from pollution, cleansing your body of toxins will help prevent aging in your entire body, including your skin.

Moisturizing Your Skin
Keeping your skin clear of dust and toxins is an important preventative measure of anti-aging. But it’s also vital that you keep your skin moisturized. Forget about all the lotions, fancy wrinkle creams, and serums. Use these simple methods THAT ACTUALLY WORK and save money doing it.

Keep these three things in your bathroom cupboard at all times: Olive oil, Castor oil, and Tea tree oil.

Olive oil shares the same level of pH as our own skin, making it the IDEAL moisturizer. Castor oil prevents blackheads and acne by sinking deep into pores and pulling out toxins, bacteria, and dirt. Tea tree oil is the most effective antiseptic you can find, and works quickly to kill off infections living within skin, keeping it clean. By moisturizing and cleansing your skin with oils instead of soap, you are helping to prevent wrinkles. Soap neutralizes all oil from our skin, drying it out, and leaving behind harsh residue that gets stuck within pores, causing pH imbalance. In chemistry we learn that oil neutralizes oil, and by simply combining olive and castor oil you can naturally balance your skin and eliminate excess dirt and oil. We always use a 1 to 3 ratio with olive and castor oils to create a perfectly hydrating, dirt expelling mask. Leave it on your face for five minutes, cover your face with a warm wash cloth, and gently wipe off. It’s the perfect make-up removing combination that will prevent aging, acne, and dry skin.

Detoxing Your Skin
Soaking in a bathtub can do wonders for your entire body, including your skin. Using bath salts is a cheap, natural alternative for pulling out toxins from your body, and they are easy to make!

There are numerous kinds of salts you can choose from when making at-home bath salts. Epsom is a great one for pulling out toxins from deep within your body, but almost any variety will do. A simple recipe is 16 oz. of all-natural bath salt combined with 15-30 drops of essential oil. This also works great to relieve stress, illness, and prevent insomnia.

In a mixing bowl, add drops of essential oil to the bath salt and mix well. Store in a glass jar. Add 1/3 to ½ cup of scented salts to a bath and enjoy!

It’s Up To You

Using these remedies you will see an improvement in the condition of your skin, whether you are already seeing signs of aging or whether you are working to prevent it, undo needless damage to your entire body by incorporating some of these tricks.
