Now Foods’ Hyaluronic Acid Firming Serum

Hyaluronic Acid Firming Serum is a concentrated solution designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines. It claims to use hyluronic acid to increase the elasticity of the skin. In mature skin, elasticity is often lost because of aging, so restoring it could help the skin look younger. It also claims to stimulate collagen production, which is necessary to fill in deep lines and add youthfulness to the skin. In order to stimulate collagen production, an ingredient must be able to permeate the skin. Those kinds of ingredients are usually fairly expensive, and this product is relatively inexpensive, so it would be surprising if this product contained ingredients that could actually deliver the results it promises.
De-ionized Water, Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis) Leaf Gel*, Vegetable Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Natural Aroma, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Green Tea Extract, Algae Extract, Soluble Collage and Cedar Bark Extract.

Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid Firming Serum

It is hard to say that there are many benefits to this product. We are grateful that company included a full ingredient list. Also, it is inexpensive – $12.75 for 1 fluid ounce.

Possible Side Effects for Hyaluronic Acid Firming Serum

This product is not an effective anti-aging treatment. Our research shows that none of the ingredients, including the hyaluronic acid, are capable of permeating the skin and are therefore useless.

Conclusion

As we said, this product is ineffective. The hyaluronic acid, when injected into the skin, stimulates collagen production and increases the elasticity of the skin, but when applied externally, it has not been proven to even penetrate the skin, let alone function as an anti-age treatment. The soluble collagen that is in this product is also ineffective because when collagen is broken down into small enough molecules to permeate the skin, it is too small to join up with the collagen already in the skin, making it useless. We would not recommend this product.
