Prevage
Prevage is an expensive luxury product supposedly meant to correct and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It protects the skin from sun damage and pollution damage, and it uses antioxidants to kill off related free radicals. They focus on the idea of promoting it partly through qualified physicians who obviously sell at retail prices.
History of Prevage
Prevage is sold exclusively through doctors’ offices. But they do not actually require a prescription to give it to you. It is produced by a well known prescription company Allergan, but it is not even FDA approved to do anything at all or make any claims related to disease or otherwise things that the FDA really controls.
Benefits
Prevage uses idebenone, an ingredient otherwise known as coenzyme Q10 that you could literally find anywhere on the current market. They claim it will give you amazing results. But idebenone requires more than the 1% they use to work, and it only fights free radicals even in higher percentages. It does not produce more collagen and elastin. They also use retinol, which turns over skin cells, but is highly likely to produce skin damage and otherwise.
Possible side effects
Possible side effects of Prevage include redness, irritation, burning, itching, flaking, burning sensations, dry skin, rash, inflammation, sensitivity to the sun, peeling, and dryness.
Conclusion
We would not recommend using Prevage. It doesn’t give you the results you are looking for, and despite being dispensed through qualified physicians, apparently those that do sell it haven’t really looked into it or don’t care as long as they are making a significant profit by selling it through retail outlets. It is actually worse than some over the counter products, many of those products in fact.
